Tips on how to RECREATE THE LATEST HAIR TRENDS SEEN AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS

February 29, 2012

Hey you know we can look just as FABULOUS the celebrities at the Academy Awards did with these easy tips....

BOLD BUNS

"All the buns have one thing in common, they all began their lives as ponytails. To achieve Emma Stones twisted bun: Simply gather the hair into a tight ponytail with a deep side parting. Smooth with OSiS Magic or Schwarzkopf Professional BC Oil Miracle Finishing Treatment to get copious amounts of shine. Separate the ponytail into five different sections. Taking one section at a time, wrap loosely around the base of the ponytail and pin. Taking your next section, weave in and out and around your first section. Proceed in this manner until all sections are weaved throughout each other and pinned securely to the head. Finish the bun off with OSiS Sparkler shine spray and OSiS Elastic hairspray."

SIDE-SWEPT HAIR

"The deep side parting with hair on one shoulder is a look anyone can achieve. Apply OSiS Body Me and blow out your hair with as much curl and or body as you choose. Once done set the style with OSiS Elastic hair spray. Decide what side of your head you would like your hair to cascade down. Bring all the hair over to the side and place either in front or behind your shoulder. Gather the hair at your nape and twist it under (if you do not want to see the hair that is secured to your head) or over (if you want to see the twist) and pin with hairpins. Finish with OSiS Elastic."

Home Remedy

Quick Beauty Tip

February 22, 2012

I haven't gave yall a good ol' home remedy in a while so here is a good one that I'm sure to work because its from Dr. Oz who I freaking LOVE!!! This remedy is a homemade facial cleanser using lemons. The acid from the lemons will rid your skin of outbreak-causing bad bacteria while the healthy probiotics from the yogurt will infuse your skin with good bacteria.

Ingredients:

1 tbsp natural yogurt
1 tsp lemon juice
2 drops essential lemon oil

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together. Soak a cotton wool pad in mixture and remove makeup. Repeat with fresh cotton wool pads until make up is removed.

Well as always I hope this helps!!

Fashion Week 2012

Spotlight: OPI

February 14, 2012

This is for all you OPI fans...OPI was doing it up for fashion week! On Friday, OPI was used on nails for the Jason Wu and Rebecca Taylor fall/winter shows at St. John’s Center Studios and Lincoln Center! For Jason Wu, models’ nails were painted with taupe hue, San Tan-tonio. The noticeable neutral complimented clothes in taupe, black and gold with pops of fuchsia and red.

Meanwhile on Friday, Road House Blues, a purple-y navy, was painted on models’ nails for Rebecca Taylor to compliment the collection’s dark colors and floral prints.
OPI was also used on nails for the Herve Leger by Max Azria fall/winter show at Lincoln Center on Saturday! Passion was painted on models’ nails for a clean, barely-there nude look that complimented the show’s black and neutral-colored dresses with leather strap detailing.

OPI also kicked off the Fall 2012 shows doing the nails for Lauren Moffatt’s presentation at The Old School (a Catholic school turned events space) last Monday! The bright orange hue, A Good Man-darin Is Hard to Find was used on models’ nails. Nails were made short and squoval (square and oval ) to give fall looks the right pop of bright color. Orange will continue to a big color for nails throughout the year!

primer

Must have Primers!!

February 13, 2012

Ok yall lets talk Skin!!! Lately I've been using quite a few of Smashbox Cosmetics on my clients and honey I am in love their primers! A primer is used to prep your skin before you add foundation to it. If you face has red spots or just really dry then your foundation is not going to look as good as it should. So that's why its good to prime you face first.

This is PHOTO FINISH COLOR CORRECTING FOUNDATION PRIMER, ADJUST. Does your skin tend to have Redness or dark spots??? Then this is for you!!! I promise you this stuff is like MAGIC!!! It's color correcting, wrinkle reducing, and dark spot defying. Create a perfect canvas for foundation application and even out skin tone with this silky, lightweight blend of antioxidants and vitamins A & E. The formula helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for visibly softer, younger-looking skin. Wear under foundation or alone for a velvety-smooth finish. Now in a sleek tube for perfect dispensing-down to the last drop! Counteract discoloration and dark spots. ADJUST is green-toned to reduce redness. Put this on before you put on your foundation and you will be looking great the whole day!

This is PHOTO FINISH HYDRATING FOUNDATION PRIMER. Is your face looking and feeling Dry? Well this primer is for you! It immediately quenches skin and seals in moisture for hours after, thanks to Hydraplex, an extract derived from desert plants. Oh and did I mention its Oil free!!

This is PHOTO FINISH FOUNDATION PRIMER LIGHT. If you have oily skin and is its easy to get your skin irritated then this is for you. It's oil-free, 60% water based primer is ideal for oily, acne-prone or sensitive skin. This primer formula has oil absorbers for a smooth matte finish all day, light diffusers to minimize the appearance of imperfections, and vitamin C and peptides to help even skin tone and promote collagen production for a flawless future. Oh and did I mention its the Winner of Allure Magazine''s Best of Beauty Award for Best Primer.
Well as always I hope this helps

Black Beauty Icon: Beverly Johnson

February 01, 2012

Well as we all know its February and that means its Black History Month. So, I want to talk about the first African-American supermodel Beverly Johnson. Looking at this stunning picture to the left, I'm sure you can see why she is a supermodel. Beverly Johnson is more than a model she is a mom, actress, author, activist, businesswoman, TV personality, and a BEAUTY icon.

As a model in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, Beverly appeared on more than 500 magazine covers from Glamour and Cosmopolitan to Essence, Ebony and French Elle. She has thousands of editorial pages, and hundreds of advertising campaigns to her credit. Her success during the 70s and 80s transcended race as Beverly became a household name. She signed with the Ford Modeling agency and was one of the highest paid models in the industry in a very short period of time. Her work wasn’t limited to print; Beverly also worked the runway for such designers as Yves St. Laurent, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Halston.

August 1974, Beverly Johnson was the first African American model to
grace the cover of American Vogue.
