Q & A: Oily Skin

January 26, 2012

I have recently received a question from one of my readers...

Q: I wanna know how to get rid of a shiny nose and forehead?

A: Well if your nose and forehead is shiny then that means you have oily skin. Oily skin can be a bit of a pain in the butt because having oily skin can cause acne, big pores and unwanted shine. So here is a few tips for oily skin...

-Avoid using cleansers that feel like its over drying your skin, because it will just cause your skin to produce even more oil than usual.

-You should always cleanse using a gel cleanser

-Get products that are oil-free. Which means you have to look for noncomedogenic moisturizers and sunscreen products. Oil-Free products won't clog pores.

-As for foundation Black Opal and Revlon Color Stay are great for oily skin.

-Keep oil Blotting Sheets handy in your little makeup bag. These handy sheets are used to blot away excess oil whenever you need it.

- Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer with Vitamins E & B3, Combination/Oily is a really great moisturizer to use and you can get it right from any drugstore.
Another great product is Invisible Oil blocking loose powder by Black Opal. It's lightweight, hypoallergenic and colorless loose powder, designed with unique oil blotters, helps control shine and impart a beautiful matte finish. Oh and Allure gave this product is stamp of approval!
If your oily skin is seems to be a serious issue then I suggest you talk to your dermatologist about retinoids. Retinoids can reduce production in oil glands and shrink their size. Well as always I hope this helps!
